The song must have become well-known both domestically in Korea and abroad for its creative, experimental approach on Korean music if it is to be nominated and win.
Although including other genres, the winning song has to be mostly sung in Korean language. The selected songs are creative works of Korean music that connected with listeners all around. Public fan vote combined with panel of Korean music professionals’ opinions at the Pop Golden Awards defines the winner.
They evaluate every song’s originality, artistic quality, critical response, and commercial appeal. The Golden Korean Record of the Year Award honors audacious Korean music that defies convention and wins respect all around.
It pays respect to artistic Korean ability stretching musical limits. The prize marks the position of the winning song in Korean music history for its creative mix with accessibility that let it create a significant crossover to listeners all around.
